We are on our way to Washington DC, to participate in the National Walk for Epilepsy, set for tomorrow on the Mall. It will be both memorable and emotional for those of us who live each day with this somewhat unforgiving and usually misunderstood disease. I’m looking forward to connecting with many friends I have made during the past few months, since I began writing this blog. We not only share this disease, but we also share a devotion and a commitment to advocacy and attention.
There are some wonderful events throughout the year which raise money for various Epilepsy Foundations, but this is the preeminent event that brings the Epilepsy community together to show the entire world the importance of raising funds and awareness to help fight this disease. If you can’t make it to the National Mall tomorrow, you can certainly contribute and even walk ‘virtually’, just click here, The National Walk for Epilepsy.
You can also look into events in your area; walks, runs, fairs…it seems there are many of us out there who are fighting the fight for more recognition and more funding.
Have a wonderful weekend, and if you happen to be in Washington DC on Saturday morning…I’ll see you at the National Walk for Epilepsy!
