So often, we all get wrapped up in communicating through social media outlets and spreading the word about Epilepsy via chatrooms. I’m very guilty of this!It can take me a few hours each day to get caught up on my inbox in the Epilepsy Foundation’s ecommunities site, my regular email, Facebook communications and Twitter messages! Then, I have my posting obligations on this site and EverydayHealth.com. Sometimes I wonder where my time has gone.

I was thinking this morning…are we all as up to speed as we could be when it comes to how doctors are dealing with Epilepsy? How are they treating Epilepsy at different institutions around the country or the world? I just bookmarked a bunch of sites…so I thought I would share. These are certainly NOT the only great sites, but just a few I landed on this morning:

-Wayne State University’s Department of Neurology (my doctors!), has some very good information–and current–when it comes to Epilepsy Research: http://neurology.med.wayne.edu/epilepsy-program/

-Johns Hopkins University, another good one…also has current information and great profiles of their doctors if you are looking into switching: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/neurology_neurosurgery

-University of Michigan Epilepsy Program…there is even a study going on to find the genetic links to Epilepsy: http://www.med.umich.edu/neurology/research/ep/index.htm

-The Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/epilepsy_center/default.aspx

-The Mayo Clinic has some very good programs, and they have great links to them on the right-hand side of their site: http://www.mayoclinic.org/epilepsy/

-Stanford has some very helpful and interesting videos on their Center’s site: http://neurology.stanford.edu/divisions/epilepsy.html

-Another great one in Detroit, Henry Ford Hospital: http://www.henryfordhealth.org/body.cfm?id=48888

-St. Barnabas in New Jersey is also a Level 4 Epilepsy Center. This is important when it comes to seeking a treatment center: http://www.saintbarnabas.com/services/neuro/neurology/epilepsy.html

-The National Association for Epilepsy Centerscan assist you in providing either a Level 3 or Level 4 treatment center. Do you have a great treatment center you wish to recommend? Just let me know and I will add it to the list! In the meantime, I’m going to stay out of chat rooms for the day, and see if I can educate myself a bit more by the ones doing all of the research…the doctors!
