A neat opportunity today…I spoke with Greg Grunberg, actor and wonderful Epilepsy Advocate, and Dr. Brien Smith, MD of Henry Ford Hospital. The opportunity was provided by Epilepsy Adovcate.
I know Dr. Smith from Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan functions, so this was a great chance for me to catch up with him!
We talked about Advocacy, what’s on the horizon in terms of treatments (Dr. Smith speaks about DBS)…and how we can all remain positive about Epilepsy and what’s in the future.
Enjoy!

Awesome! I just loved this! Now this is what I’m talking about. How in the world can we get this kind of stuff on T.V. for the rest of people to see?…rather than just the internet? I think everyone who has Epilepsy and is capable of doing something to lend a hand, or has someone who can, should. Since I have E, have daily seizures, can’t hold a job or drive a car, I do oil painting when my day’s are good. Most of my work is dedicated to those who have E, and in getting the word out there. I’m the artist with E!!! And of course my favorite artist is Van Gogh! Bet you can guess why. There is high thought that he had Epilepsy, but I think I’ll keep my ear! haha! Anyhow, I’ve already donated a couple paintings to the yearly E calender contest, and got one published on the magazine Epilepsy and Behavior. You can find it on the front of Volume 12/4 May (2008). I would love to donate a painting to the E community. I just don’t know where to send it, or who to send it too. Do you know of any body who could help….or if you think it would?

Hello my name is michaila. im 16 and have epilepsy. i started out with absent seizures and they turned into complex partial where my legs go paralized. and i cant speak. it comes on out of know where. the last time i had a complex partial i was taking a bath and i started jerking. so i knew right away to get out when i got out and got dressed i tried going down stairs and couldnt so i sat down and yelled for my mom. she ended up having to call an ambulance and i dont remember nothing that day after that but waking up n a room with breathing tubes in my nose. i cant live a normal 16 year old life i should have my license driven around but im unable to have them. until i go 2 years without having a seizure my fiance helps me. i get false alarms where i jerk but nothing happens but one of these days it wont just be a false alarm and with me having to walk back and forth to school i could easily go into one and fall in the middle of the street crossing. my fiance has been trying to get an auto loan but is unable without a co-signer noone here is able to do it because they have bad credit. im looking for someone to help him geet a car. so i can get around to places without having to worry if im gonna go into one the past couple weeks ive been jerking on and off the other day i blacked out and when i came into reality i went crosseyed for a second and ever since then my fiance asks me if im ok if i need something. so im asking if someone could donate a car or raise money for my fiance to get a car. if you need to see recordds of appoints and eegs. i can get them. please email me back at michaila.lowe@yahoo.com i live in alma michigan. thank you.
