Auras Category

The fact of the matter is, every state has a law that applies to drivers who have seizures. It’s up to our doctors to make sure we are abiding those laws, but it’s also up to those of us who live with Epilepsy to adhere to them.

Tucket was Andrew’s dog, through and through, but in January 2003, when I became sick and began this journey called Epilepsy, Tucket really became ‘my’ dog. We always marveled at how he could sense seizures. He was not trained to be a seizure alert dog, but he has this amazing quality. He climbs into my lap when my auras begin, sometimes even tugging at my clothes so I know to sit down on a piece of furniture if I’m standing.

An aura is described as ‘a distinctive feeling or some other warning sign when a seizure is coming’. For those of us who have auras, they can be so different, and that’s both good and bad.
